Alex Powell, MD

Alex Powell, MD, has been an interventional radiologist at Baptist Cardiac & Vascular Institute since 1997. He is currently Medical Director of Interventional Radiology.

Dr. Powell received his bachelor's degree from the University of California in Los Angeles and his medical degree from the University of Michigan School of Medicine. He completed a residency in diagnostic radiology at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, where he was also chief resident from 1995-1996. Dr. Powell completed fellowships in interventional radiology at the University of California in San Diego as well at Baptist Cardiac & Vascular Institute.

Dr. Powell is Board-certified by the American College of Radiology and has a Certificate of Added Qualification in vascular interventional radiology. He is a member of the Society of Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiology, the American Roentgen Ray Society and the Radiological Society of North America.

Dr. Powell has published several articles and abstracts in scientific journals. In addition, along with his colleagues at Miami Vascular Interventionalists, Dr. Powell has recently submitted a number of manuscripts for publication, among them: "Six-Year Single-Center Experience with Transluminal Endografting for the Treatment of Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm," "Treatment of Painful Osteoporotic Vertebral Compression Fractures by Percutaneous Vertebroplasty, Our Initial Experience," and "Risk Stratification and Outcomes of Transluminal Endografting for Abnormal Aortic Aneurysm. Seven-Year Experience and Long-term Follow Up." Dr. Powell has made presentations at medical symposia around the world and has served as co-director of two international symposia on endovascular therapy.
